One of my Harlequin Rasboras seems to have two large gaps on either side of his jaw, just below the gills. It's as if you were to feel your jawbone, then right inside of that on the soft tissue there. That part of the fish's jaw.
On this diagram, the affected area is near the area labeled "Branchiostegal Rays".
He is acting normally and eating voraciously with the rest of the school.
I have been treating for Ich in the tank with salt and heat, but that is the only thing out of the ordinary.
Anyone ever dealt with something like this? I don't think that it's hole-in-the-head as it's not part of his skull, but rather seems to be the soft tissue on the underside of his jaw.
EDIT: And now it seems to have closed. That was weird! Is this normal?
