Does anyone have any experience w/ rainbow darters? I've been looking into them and they seem like a good addition. There is also a local breeder close by in Milwaukee. Any personal advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Darters.. like America's own little version of the Goby.
They prefer a good current, and temperatures in the low to mid-70's.

I agree, current is pretty much a must. They'll enjoy cave-like structures as well.

Thanks for the reply's! I've gotten some good info from btdarters.com and was hoping for some personal experience from my fellow aquarists. If they enjoyed keeping them, ease of care, compatability w/ other community fish. Thanks.

Wish I had some experience but based on what I know they are pretty intolerant of pollution so clean water is necessary. But that goes for most fish anyways. I would imagine they would do just fine with smaller, peaceful fish that can handle the current and the cooler temps. Again, no experience but I hope this helps a little bit!

BTDarters probably knows as much about the captive care of that species as anyone in the world (seriously).

as long as you dont have anything that will eat them they should be ok, i would put some nice rock formations for them to move around on, and a powerhead or two should do the trick
other than that they are pretty easy to care for
