I wouldn't have even considered this, but someone said it would work, and I want to get everyone's input.
Will anubias take root in rocks? I'm not talking gravel. If I take a flat rock, the size of my palm, and tie an anubia to it, will it eventually take root in the rock?

depends on the rock. you can surly tie it to it. if its smooth it prob wont grab on.

I imagine it would have to be glass smooth for it to not attach. Ive had them attach to smooth river rocks, just takes a little while.

It won't root into it, but an Anubias will attach itself to almost anything not coated with teflon given enough time.

Right. The roots wouldn't grow into the rock, they will attach around it.

I have some of mine tied to rocks. The roots grow around it and some down into the gravel.

Agreed, I've never had problems with most rocks I have tried...smooth or not.

Cool. What about driftwood? Will the roots actually grow into the wood, or do they just grow around it?

Mostly around, if the wood has holes or nooks and crannies, the roots might grow into them.

Anubias is like a top notch rock climber - can find holds where you think it's completely smooth.
