It probably just hasn't spread that far throughout the hobby yet.. I'm sure the price will lower with time, given that it's a rather easy breeder.
well there you go. you want one of the sought after ones. its also a newer one. while it might be easy to breed people are still willing to pay. look how long cherry shrimp took to get $1.
