Could I put YoYo loaches in this tank?

It's a 55 gallon planted tank, so far it has five platies and six cories in it. Eventually I want to add a school of tetras.
I keep reading conflicting information on other sites about how many you should have, some say three, some say six minimum, so if they would work how many should I get?
Are they usually hard to find? I have checked three LFS and have only found clowns, which I know will get too big. I am wondering if I am just unlucky, or if they are rare.

Thanks for the help!

Yoyos may be too rowdy for corys & not let them get enough food. Also they grow pretty fast to 4+ inches then more slowly to 6+ inches, so a 55g is going to feel small.

There are smaller loaches like striata (zebra) & sidthimunki (dwarf chain) that might be better. But if you don't mind "snaky" shaped fish, kuhlis would love a planted tank & are very peaceful. Loaches of most types need the company of their own species, so get 6 or more.

I will look for those then, thank you! Here I was thinking YoYos were the small ones. Do the ones you mentioned like eating snails? That would be a plus for me

Well that is not a huge deal then, I can always just pull the snails I have in out, and stop feeding the fish I have too much food :) Kuhlis sound really neat from what I am reading, I will check for all three types the next time I am out fish gazing!
Thanks so much for the help everyone, I love this board

Snails aren't all that bad. They just tend to proliferate quickly when food supply is abundant.

Kuhlis won't eat the snails.
