I read that the Freshwater Moray Eel was a brackish water species and I was just wondering would it survive in a completely freshwater enviroment?

I wouldn't advise it.

As a juvenile, the eel will be okay in pure FW. As it ages, it will need either a brackish or full marine environment. This is the normal life cycle of these fish--they live in estuaries as juveniles, then move out to lagoons and the reefs. You cuold keep it in a heavy bracksih tank, with a sp above 1.015. Less than that, and it will be prone to illness.
