i could care less about the sponge filters and some of the other items on the list, but for $250 for the whole kit and kaboodle, i'm not gonna whine about a few things i don't want.

and here i was, surfing kijiji, trying to find a better deal than that, lol. tried a few, but they were all "i have the tank, but no stand". grrrr! a tank is useless without the stand to me, a carpenter i am not.... lol.

if thats a real wood stand then I would say thats a really good deal. Even a metal stand its still pretty decent. Whats the wattage on that coralife light?

no idea on the wattage, havn't looked yet, but i took a look at everything (with the tank and stand came two boxes of stuff) and i think i have over 600 bucks worth! even got two brand new, never been opened, jars of cichlid pellets (the NLS) and the price tags on those were 24.99 each!

didn't end up getting the nets or the bloodworms, but he threw in an Elite Hush 55 hob filter too. and the air pump is a dual output. sweeeeeet!

it's like Christmas in April!!!!!! yayayayayayay me!!!!!!!!!

i know, i know, y'all know how good a deal i got, but i just have to share.... with photos! lol. the three pieces of lava rock the guy thought weighed about ten pounds total, well, the biggest peice weighs more than that alone!

i didn't show the stand cause it's nothing to brag about, just a beech veneer wood stand. i'm actually thinking of making up a tank package with my 20 long to sell and that would be the stand and then i can go out and buy a nice black one to match the other 55.

oh yeah, no cleaning necessary except a lil hard water stains on the lids. i'm so lucky.... (knock on wood).

Not to steal your thunder, but....

I just scored a 100gal acrylic tank, with stand and hood, fluval filter, UGF, lights, heater, air pump, etc, AND 40some as-of-yet unidentified african cichlids and two monster plecos....


FOR 200$ ON CRAIGSLIST!!!

I'll probably make a good part of that back thinning out the livestock too.

yes, hooray for buying used, and double hooray for the internet and sites like craigslist and kijiji !!!!!! and that's not stealing my thunder, cause that big a tank wouldn't fit in my place unless i got rid of my couch, lol, and i'd get neck strain watching my tanks sitting on the floor.

you say you dont want the sponge filters? those are awsome for so many things.

i much prefer running canisters and hobs. i don't plan on venturing into breeding and i really don't like the space the sponges take up in the tank. used to run them (a different type than the ones in the pic) on my 10 gallon betta tanks, but that was only one fish per tank, so the bioload was small.

i know sponge is good for more nitrifying bacteria, i just don't like them, so off they go!
