I measured both of my tanks tonight:
0 ammonia
0 nitrites
0 nitrates
.5 phosphates
7.4 pH
6 gH
4 kH
I think if I could lower my phosphates I could have less of a delicate balance with algae. I realize I can do it with water changes but what other methods are available to me? I considered adding CaCl and precipitating calcium phosphate but I am not sure if it would work. Adding soluable iron would precipitate phosphates as well but I think the iron might prove to be a good source of nutrients for algea.
The tanks are about 2 watts per gallon, no CO2 and no fertz.
Thoughts?
