Are these MTS at LFS?

I kind of asked this question before, but didn't really get an answer. There are small, conical snails as my LFS that they said I could take a scoop of if I wanted em. I was watching em move around and they were on top of the substrate dragging themselves along, inch by inch. Now, I thought that MTS burrowed(this is what I need them for) and I don't really want to bring home a bunch of baby-making machines if they're not made to do the job I need them for. Are these guys MTS or something different?

With no pictures?? They certianly sound like malaysian trumpet snails though. MTS's do reproduce asexually so you will have LOTS of snails fairly fast! They do burrow into the substrate but they will also crawl around on top of the substrate when feeding etc., What do you want the MTS to do?

I want them to burrow in my sand substrate so I don't have air pockets, etc. I guess I could use something to stir it up if the MTS are gonna end up being a problem. Plus, my partner doesn't like them. Maybe I should think of another way to keep the relationship waters calm. :owned:

You can always take out the extra snails and put them into the freezer then dispose of them. You really won't see many during the day. Mine mostly come out at night when I give them some food. It adds another dimension to the aquarium, I think.

I got my MTS from the petstore where they had gravel substrate. I think the snails have a harder time burrowing into the gravel. I put them in the sand in my tank and the burrow there. I now have tons of MTS in my 55 gallon and I never see them out during the day. Only in the morning when i turn the lights on or if the lights get turned off late they start coming out.

OOOhhhhh! Nice MTS Mg!!! Mine are boring colors--brown, brown, darker brown and once in a while tan.
