I moved some plants and moss that had been growing (slowly) in the tank for close to a year. Due to the closeness of the plants it wasn't possible to vacuum. Yesterday I caught the moss on the siphon while doing a w/c and pulled it out of the way. In doing so I found this clam. I have no idea where it came from or how long it has been in the tank. Can anyone ID this?
Thanks!

P.S. If anyone wants all these snails, speak up now as I am going to bleach the tank. Cost of shipping only. I take PayPal.

Looks more like a mussel than a clam.

I don't know what it "eats" and obviously has been getting it's nourishment from somewhere as it has gone from non-existent to what you see. I realize it is a filter feeder and wonder if I should stop dosing some ferts? As far as keeping it, sure thing as it is unusual and somewhat unique in my menagerie of wet wonders.
Thanks for the input everyone.
Jeff, just leave the clam to its usual nourishment. They usually do better in well established tank and the clam indicated that. You're lucky so far.;)

that's cool. i hear clams usually die in tanks, so whatever you're doing, i suggest you keep doing the same thing. it's obviously thriving. but again you want to get rid of the snails. Ending the hobby?
i guess your lack of graveling gave the clam a lot of food

It is eco-complete for the substrate. As such, I never vacuumed as it siphons up easily. No, I am not getting out of the hobby, but a case of "paying it forward". Some people have done nice things for me and I know that some people need them for loaches, puffers, assassin snails, etc. I have no need for them and rather than dispose of them I thought I would offer them up to anyone that can use them instead.
