Hi all,

I'm building a 70 watt mh fixture. I got a deal on a few of these (http://www.venturelighting.com/VLPS/Opti-Wave70W.html). Problem is, all the bulbs listed on the manufacturer's website are the wrong color temperature. I was wondering if there's any reason I can use one of these (http://cgi.ebay.com/70W-70-watt-14K...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50) with this ballast.

Also, follow-up question: what sort of clear material should I use as a shield between the bulb and the water? I heard that hot glass plus cold water equals broken glass, and I'm a little afraid that acrylic or plastic would melt.

Thanks!

I’m no expert (because I run T5’s), but that ballast is a pulse start while the bulbs you show are not. As far as I know, all pulse start bulbs are not double ended (DE), they only have the one end that “plugs” in.
