Hello everyone!
I have a spawing pair of Firemouth Cichlids with a ton of babies! The pair is very attentive to the young but I have noticed as of today, that the male is chasing the female out of the cave and paying no attention to the babies. The babies are now exploring the whole tank while the female is hiding from the male. Is this normal? Should I remove the female? Or the male? At what size is it ok to remove the pair from the babies? Also , what is the best food for them?
Sorry, so many questions! My first experience with cichlids( although I have years of experience with other fresh water species)

i think i'd remove the female and leave the male with the fry for another week or so

The male is sexually aggressive and wants another brood. Separate the fry from the parents. The fry can be fed with brine shrimp or any suitable fine food. Avoid powerheads or anything that can suck and trap the fry. You will have another brood of fry in no time.
