I currently have rocks at the bottom of my tank. I am wanting to get a Prehistoric Dragon Goby. Do they do best in sand or are rocks ok? Can anyone tell me about this fish? I'll try to attach a picture but I'm not very good at that...lol

What tank size do you have?
Also, have you checked liveaquaria's shipping charges? I was considering buying from them until I saw the prices of shipping.

I don't think it really matters to the fish, but I'd think sand would be a bit more comfortable for a fish that rests on the ground. I wouldn't recommend sand if you're new though.

Sand would be better as they will sift sand looking for food.

holy cow the shipping is high!!! well i have had fish all my life until about 3 years ago, although I am now learning all kinds of stuff that I didn't know or don't remember. I really do want that fish so I will try to find it elsewhere. Maybe I can get my fish guy to order it for me, he keeps all kinds of fish as the entire store if for fish.

I have one in my brackish tank. It is half sand / half gravel.
He prefers the sand. He does make a mess of it though, throws sand around in his efforts to redecorate.
He spends most of his time in his pvc pipe shaped cave. Only comes out to eat and maybe at night.
Mine eats blackworms, shrimp, bloodworms, and picks at algae waffers.

I have a 55gal. Is it hard to do sand, do i use live sand or just reg. fron the pet store?

Like twistersmom said, they are brackish water, not straight fresh. They won't do well at all in fresh and will soon pass.

For their long term health, hard brackish water is recommended.
I used aragonite, but play sand would work as well.
