Is $760 a Good Deal???

Go fish yourself.
I can get a brand new 90g with an oak cabinet stand, canopy & glass hinged top for $760.

The stand/canopy comes unstained so I can choose my own color. That is also a bonus for me.

Let me know what you think since I completely suck at making these calls myself.

is it new or used?
if used that is really high...i wouldn't

That seems outrageous...unless the stand is like some custom-built, exotic fine piece of furniture or something.

I got my 75gal brand new with stand, light and glass tops for $200 on sale. Granted it was a metal stand not a wood cabinet, but the extra $560 hardly seems worth that...to me anyway. I would build something myself before paying that for it.

thats sounds about average for a new retail set up. i would ask them whats the best price you can do on this set up and see if they make a lower offer. in this economy most places will try and keep your business and offer a bit off, it doesnt hurt to ask before you buy.

Yes I will try to negotiate. What do you guys think is a fair price? $500? This is all brand new.

I would love to build something myself but unfortunately I don't have those abilities.

If you can stand buying used, you can find something significantly cheaper if you can wait. I got my 180 and stand for $200.

I would NOT pay $500 for that setup used

rule of thumb for a tank that size is about $2 per gallon... and then compensate for any "extras" that are thrown in

now if its a nice tank.. I would be willing to go as high as $3 per gallon.. but that still only puts you at $270

so unless you think the stand and canopy are worth $230... that is a crap deal

Yea that sounds high to me also. There are alot of tank setups for sale on CL in my area that are more reasonably priced than that. Plus, on CL the price is always negotiable.

The economy, unfortunately, is causing more people to sell their stuff. I would look for a better deal.
