I put in an order for amano shrimp from Arakkis and might be getting some nerites too (maybe some from Arakkis--spiny ones, and maybe some olives from customdrum). Anyways, I just can't wait! I've got some trouble with hair algae that just refuses to leave my dwarf sag and some perhaps red algae on my bacopa that I'm hoping they will help remove. I'm also dosing Excel and scraping when I can. Plus, they are just sooooo cool.

I'm thinking that once they clear up the algae, I will move the amanos to my invert tank. I just wanted to make sure that they are all compatible, though. I think they are, but I though I'd poll the experts. In the invert tank, I have cherry shrimp, pond snails, common ramshorns, and a few hitchhiker MTS. The first 2 are mostly breeders for my puffer, but I find myself less and less often picking out cherries, lol.

Oh, and it's a 20g long with a mix of real and fake plants and some assorted natural decor and sponge filters. This tank gets a couple hours of indirect sunlight every day in one corner/side, so it gets loaded with algae pretty quickly.

Oh, and I might, maybe, possibly put one in my 2.5g planted that I was swearing up and down would be planted only, lol. Would 1 nerite have enough room in a 2.5g or should I stick with some cherries in there?

Update: For sure I'm getting 6 olive nerites from customdrum and 1 spiny nerite from Arakkis (I think C. corona).

I'm kinda leaning towards not putting anything but plants in that 2.5g at work since I don't want to mess with water changes so much.

I just got the above nerites and amanos this morning. They are so awesome. I've decided to put the amanos in the 20g long invert tank in case I decide to get an angel for the 75g community. I will be putting the nerites in the 75g. Once I get home, I will try to get some pics. I am so freaking excited I can't concentrate on work!

Here are a few pics of the new amanos and nerites. All seem to be doing well (except for one olive, but it was an extra). Plus, a few pics of juvie cherries.

Thanks! For awhile, I thought I was gonna be talking to myself, lol. Some of the pics aren't that great, but I'm still trying to figure out my camera's setting (2+ years after I got it, lol).

You'll figure it out. You seem to be taking great pix so far. I can see all the little details and markings that are so hard to make out w/just the naked eye. Man I love the horned nerite too, been thinking about getting myself 1 or 2. Did they acclimate quickly?

Nom nom nom...I want the nerites!

Actually, they came wrapped in wet/damp papertowel, so I didn't really do any acclimating. I figured that there was no water to speak of to start with, so there was little reason to set up a drip system (which is what I normally do). I just dropped them in and tried to chase away the curious fish. They all started moving within a few minutes, and 10 minutes later I had a couple all the way on the other side of the 75g tank!

I am very impressed with both sources, and I would not hesitate to order from either customdrum or Arakkis. Arakkis, in particular, was very helpful, and when I mentioned that I was looking for spiny freshwater varieties, he gave me 3 options he carries. I was interested in C. corona and another one that I forget at the moment, so he included one as a sort of sample and said that if I wasn't happy with it I didn't have to pay. I couldn't be happier with it, so of course I paid.

I'm going to order again, but we bought a new plasma TV and I spent quite a bit to set up my 2.5g planted tank for work, so my aquaria budget is a little empty, lol.
