Hi Friends !

I have about 6 Anubias in my tank and though they've been attached to seperate rocks (using fishing line and rubber bands) and have remained like this for the last 4 months, I find that they still have not attached to the rocks. Just wanted to request you to kindly guide me on how much time will it take for these to attach themselves to the rocks naturally.

Kindly advice.
Thanks and Regards
Kush

i have two rhizomes of anubias bateri eyes, and ive tied them down with thread to a lava rock cave, it's been two months now and though they're not attached yet, i can see the roots growing from the rhizome towards the rock, i believe they just grow very slowly, especially if you do not have a Co2 system and good lighting. i use a standard hood for my 10g with two CFL's one is a regular nvision CFL 14w house bulb yellowish orange color and the other is from the aquarium store 20w and more of a bluish color.. and i'm planning on making a DIY Co2 system to speed up the growth of my anubias and java moss..

It will take a good while. My anubias(still uncertain of what kind it is) was JUST starting to attach it self to some wood in my tank when my fish knocked it off some how, and it had been sitting there for about 1.5 months

I'm not sure about rocks but it has taken over a year for my anubias to attach to wood before and even longer with a coconut shell.

it seems variable. I've had anubias that never attached to anything. but the one that I got from Inka and used in my 5.5g attached to the cork bark in a matter of weeks, and has grown tons of new roots, 3-4 inches from it's perch into the substrate. most of the plant is emmersed, but beyond that, I can not think of anything I'm doing to promote growth in that ttank.

Definitely depends on how porous the rocks they're attached to are. I have anubias that's only been tied to lava rock for a few months, and they are already firmly attached. No co2 or ferts here, but good proper lighting is definitely important. I've also noticed that once the plants get settled and puts out those first few roots, that the process generally quickens.

Yeah Mellow, those narrows throw lots of roots.

this is like 3-4 weeks of growth.

uh... do you have to attach it to wood/ rock or can you bury it in your substrate????
