a few weeks ago i was at the LFS and they had a great selection of plants and i wanted a xxxxx Sword. but they didnt have any so i went with the other xxxxx Sword that they had.

now, i dont remember at all what sword i have or which one i went there for.....

i have been getting lil baby plantlets growing off of it as well which i have been popping off and planting and they have been growing nicer roots over the past few days.

i think i narrowed it down to:
amazon, black, or melon...
thanks for the help.

What lighting do you have? If you have considerably high lighting, and the leaves aren't red, you might be able to cut out Melon Sword out of your choices.

I think it's Amazon just because it is the most often sold sword out there, and I see a lot of different leave types. I had a similar looking plant back then, with some leaves wrinkly and some straight. Also, what is the current height of the plant?

EDIT: I also forgot to mention, it could be the black sword because of the length of the stems (attaching leaves to the crown) is shorter in the amazon sword, but similar to the Black Sword.

Have you used the plantguide on http://www.plantgeek.net ?

The color doesn't rule out melon sword. Those come in green and red. That's what it looks like.

(There's also a variegated variety.)

Sword, Green Melon (Echinodorus Osiris)

Mature leaves, yes.. as they are in the larger plants. New shoots... not so much. As an example, you can see that here.

Echinodorus Osiris - above pic, can tolerate temperatures even a little lower than 60 F or as high as 75 F degrees. Different "Echinodorus" provide a variety of shades of green and some spectacular red colorings, too

Its an Amazon. Mellon has round leaves. This plant is throwing you off becasue it was grown emersed and still has some of its emersed leaves which are round at the tip. The submersed leaves are pointy. It will not grow any more rounded leaves now that it lives underwater and the round ones that are on it now will eventually die off.
