When I looked over this site it seemed that I was torturing my skin by try to moisturize and use sunblock. Much of the stuff we use seems to have known hazardous chemicals. So how useful is this site? How dangerous is alot of this stuff really.

I don't use sunblock and never had in my last vacation at a beach but I chose to swim at the right time when the sun isn't around.lol I use umbrella (can be folded and tuck in your knapsack) to avoid blistering heat during summer. Weird I know.

Yeah I think that moderation is key, I dislike standing in the sun anyway. I still think I need sunscreen but I'll try looking for an organic one, or just use desitin which has zinc oxide. I'll probably just avoid avo/oxy benzone. The problem is that pretty much everything on the site is in the moderate or high hazard area. The completely organic products like Garden of Eve seem to cost 50 dollars.

Okay, I had been mulling on this and looked at the site. They didn't specify which ingredients exactly cause cancer. They need to support their findings on this matter rather than cause confusion if using sunscreen lotions is okay or not at all. The point of those products is to minimize risk of skin cancer caused by too much sunlight exposure but I find it ironic the products themselves would cause cancer.

Wow I hope it's not true! I'm a readhead and I need sunscreen all the time. On a cloudy day, out for an hour, I will get sun burned. So, I'm going to believe it's not true :D

Guess what? LIVING causes cancer. Every breath you take could carry some tiny particle that will eventually kill you. Radiation is constantly coursing through your body. Every bite of food you eat brings more free radicals into your body, slowly breaking down the very things you depend on most. Every time you loose the tiniest skin cell, another one is made, increasing the likelihood that a genetic error will occur.
You will die.
I'm not saying that we shouldnt be careful about these kinds of things, but you can go overboard too. Worry about the big stuff, and forget about the small stuff.

Thanks, guys, that's what happens when you have nothing to do i guess. I'm not going to go obsessive over this. Oxybenzone the main ingredient in most sunscreens seems to be the only thing that's really being questioned by more than one source.

Thanks again, and glad you like my avatar, my boesemani rainbow my favorite fish!

Here Here!!!! :thm:

Luppy, a cloudy day might be the right time to swim if you're avoiding sunburn, but it's the wrong time to swim if you're avoiding sharks.

No worries about that one, Rick.lol Boracay doesn't normally have sharks roaming around nor any beaches I've visited.
