I've had a freshwater "shark" for about five months now, and only recently have I realized that I virtually know nothing about its identity. I've been Googling for about an hour with no luck.

It almost exactly resembles the Black Labeo Shark (http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=830+888+1083&pcatid=1083), which I have kept in the past, but it is not nearly as aggressive and hasn't grown as fast as my Black Sharks used to. It's about three inches long.

It has the same big eyes, small whiskers/barbels, fin structure and overall behavior, but it is a goldish green color. More green than gold, with very visible scales. It eats pretty much anything I feed it, gets along well with its more aggressive tank-mates (who ignore it) and never gives me any hassles.

Does anyone know of a similiar species to the Black Shark that is not black or brown at all, but a brighter green?

My LFS told me it came in with an old stock of RTS, and they sold it under the label of 'Green Shark' because they didn't know what it was. They only had the one, and after about eight months its label got erased despite it still being in the tank. I watched and watched, and finally about 5 months ago (making the fish at least 13 months old) I asked about it and the staff was surprised to even see it still there. They sold it to me for 6.99, without even IDing it for me.

Unfortunately, I cannot provide pictures, but it looks just like the photo in the link, only smaller and a bright green/gold.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

could it be an African Labeo?

There's a slight resemblance, but I don't think it's an exact match. I'm going to put this on hold until I can provide some pictures. They'll probably only be cellphone quality, but we'll see. Thanks BF2
