Which would be the best for plant growth in a 29 gal tank (these are both 65 watts).

The store only had the 50/50, but I am going to swap out to the 10000k if that would work better. Ideally I think i would like the 6700k, but no one seems to have that at teh present time.

it is the Coralife Aqualight 65Watt. The only one they had in stock was the 50/50 (half10000k and half actinic)

I don't understand all this stuff, but I have read that actinic either is bad or does nothing and I don't want to loose 1/2 of my light to no avail. So i thought maybe 10k (they have that bulb) or 6700k if I can find one.

man, thank you for that link. I will swap out to the 10000k and then order the 6700. I am pretty sure I will be alright until the new light arrives. I really appreciate the headsup on that. Was dreading spending another $50 for a light bulb that I just bough.

No prob big daddy...

ANyone else have the Coralife Aqualight? How do you deal with the ambient heat put off by the CF bulbs? It raised my water temp by up to 81. Unplugged my heater (not that that would help, as it was set at 76 degrees. I also raised the fixture about 1/2 inch off of the aquarium. It is an acrylic tank with a hole in the top. Now the fixture lenses is about 3/4 of inch off the water. I also read the box and it says that there should be a fan or a vents... well there ain't no fans or vents. So I took off the plastic end caps and drilled a series of holes to allow for air to circulate inside the housing. Didn't seem to do all that much. Any other suggestion?
