After 4 days of organizing I am finally ready to share my picture heavy journal of my 29 gallon tank. This is my favorite tank as it houses my German Blue Rams. I have also been working on making this into my best planted tank. This tank started out with 2 inches of small black gravel, a background, a bubble maker with 2 small round bubble stones attached with a flow regulator valve, 1 20 watt plant life grow light, one 18 watt plant life grow light, an Aquaclear HOB filter, and a heater. Artificial decorations are a small castle, and a fake log. There are also some small pieces of red rock. The inhabitants of this tank have changed a little. However it started with 2 German Blue Rams, 2 Bristle Nosed Pleco's, and 2 Apistogramma Agassizi. I went plant shopping in hubby's tank, and started with Hygrophilia Corymbosa Augustifolia, and Sagitaria Subulata, a few pieces of Windelov that has survived being starved for light in a 3 month temporary move, and a few pitiful sword plants that have survived 5 years of mistreatment. I also added some Mexican Oak Leaf I bought with the Rams.

About this time I noticed all of the rams were being kept to the top of the tank by the Apistogramma who claimed the hollow log cave. After a few days I decided to add more hiding and added a fake hollow log. I had fallen in love with the Rams, by now so I set up my ten gallon tank and moved the Apistogramma Agassizi , their log and one of the Bristle Nosed Pleco's to a ten gallon I set up. So I bought another pair of Rams for the 29 gallon. I researched the Rams and found out they like to lay eggs on flat stones or pits in the gravel. Since I had made a cave out of a candy dish cut in half for the Apistogramma's new home, I decided to add some to this tank to see if the Rams would like it. I also added some Italian Vale that was wilting in Hubby's tank.

The new Rams are laying eggs in the back corner below the heater, and being really aggressive towards the smaller Rams. The eggs didn't make it. I decided to split the Rams up. So I caught the Apistogramma's from the 10 gallon and moved them and their hollow log to my husband’s 75 gallon tank. I then moved the smaller pair of Rams to the 10 gallon. I moved one of the caves to the 10 gallon, and moved the cave in the 29 gallon to the corner. Well Hubby said it seems like such a waste to have 29 gallons for 3 fish. So I bought some fancy tailed Guppy. Unfortunately only one survived.

The breeding pair of Rams laid eggs in the front of the cave. The eggs didn't make it again. The larger male Ram died, so I decided it wasn't fair to the smaller pair to be stuck in the 10 gallon any more. I did some research and decided to give the little boy Ram a chance to make the bigger female join him and the little female in a harem. I decided it was time to add more plants at the same time too. I added some Aponogeton Crispus, Bacopa Australis, Corkscrew Valisneria, Dwarf Sagittaria, Ludwigia Arcuata, and Anubias Nanna. I also moved the cave to the corner, and put in some flat rocks for the rams to lay their eggs on.
What no fish?
There are fish in there. I swear.
Here's one of them where are the rest?
There they are.
The Rams getting ready for the party at the castle.
The smaller Rams have laid eggs on top of the cave. These eggs didn't make it either. I added some Wisteria, Elodea, Java Moss, more Italian Valisneria, and more Corkscrew Valisneria. I also took out the bubble maker and air stones. Added root tables.

Yeah this is what I was hoping for.
My cat Tigers Point of view.
I finally got it planted the way I want it, till it grows out.
Grr. Why can't I leave well enough alone? My lonely female guppy survivor had fry. I spotted two hanging out in some plants that had become unplanted. One of the Rams ate a fry while I watched. I decided to try to keep the Guppies going, so I put Guppy Girl and the lone fry guy into the 10 gallon. I decided the fry needed more plants in the 10 Gallon so I took out the Ludwigia Arcuata, Mexican Oak Leaf, and the Java Moss with the fake log.

It looks like I changed the background on this one, but it's just the angle of the light.
I started dosing with full round of flourish plant additives. I will just have to wait for the rest of my plants to grow and fill it in more. My main objective is keeping the fish happy first, and making me happy second.
At this point I would like to add a few pictures of the inhabitants.
Male German Blue Ram before the move.
Do you think the Rams were posing?
He’s so handsome. It looks like he is smiling for the camera.
The Female German Blue Rams. Aww she’s so cute sporting her little Mohawk.
My largest female German Blue Ram. I think she was bitten.
