I went back to earl may on my way home from having my baby's surgery done, and was happy to see that the tanks had fresh lettuce, algae wafers and bits of zuchini for their snails. They had some new snails, but the ones with holes(the originals) were marked "not for sale" and in a different tank than the new ones.

I was also shocked that a pet store in Omaha NE knew you need to feed snails! I went to petco there and asked them about THEIR snails.I was looking at them and since they were only asking $2 for most of their snails I bought a gold one and another light striped purple(The lady asked me if I fed my snails. Of course I said yes) they look healthy and eat just as well as the ones I got from snoopy. But the shopworker said there's so such thing as a purple or magenta or any of those colors. She calls the light stripe purple, ALBINO because of their foot color. Sorry, but I don't really think I will go by what a store person says. People here tend to know more.

So far, so good to hear! Show them the color chart here.

The information given by many Petco and Petsmart sales people is unbelievable. I bought some wisteria at a Petsmart and noticed that they had some decent looking briggs. When I pointed to a burgundy and referred to it as a brigg, she corrected me and told me, "That is not a brigg that is a mystery snail". I didn't say anything and told her whatever she was calling it, I wanted it. Then she asked if the wisteria was going into the same tank as the mystery snail, and I said that I use wisteria as floaters in my snail only tank. She then laughed and informed me that first of all wisteria will not grow if it is floating (for those of you that know plants you will probably agree that it does better floating than planted), and that secondly the mystery snail will eat the entire plant in a matter of days.

I sometimes wonder where the employees get this information, or if they just make it up as they go along.

they have blue, Ivory, wild color, gold, and the striped purple in omaha's petco. She tried to say the purples they had were not purple, that they were albino because of the light foot!

I would LOVE to have a burgundy snail. The ones I have now have gotten me addicted. lol
