Okay, everyone, we know most of the brands of plaster of Paris comprise the crystalline silica, calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate hemihydrate. Has anyone noticed the plaster of Paris appears to improve the water clarity upon used? I've used Tums before and while it does cloud the water, the plaster of Paris added seem to have prevented it since the water remained clear despite adding two tablets of Tums.

I need your input please, folks so I can punch this to my article that I will release soon.:)

Lupin, I have never done both at the same time, but I can tell you that when using the "pucks" the water seems to be clarified. When using Tums, the water does become cloudy from them. Hope this helps.

Ahh..That's good enough for me, Snoopy. Thank you!!! Anybody else? I'd like a few more confirmations and then I'll include it in the article to be really sure I'm not just theorizing around.

I have used plaster pucks alot, I dont' know that the water is clearer then when I don' tuse them, but I do know that those caltrate pills and tums cloud the water terribly. I like the pucks because they do not dissolve as readily as long as in a low flow area. You might want to mention the residue left behind as well from all of these things as it is a "side effect".

Anyone know if "Websters Group" PoP is safe to use? I know everyone suggests Dap brand.

I got some for my 5 y/o son for crafts a few months ago- so I have it on hand. Problem is it says it is "quick drying" compared to other PoP- that means it has other chemicals in right?

If this is not a good place to ask this question or is viewed as a tread hijack I will start new thread just had plaster puck question.

I made some the other day man my house smells great as the are in the food dryer
They were are a bit crumbly any suggestions on that would be great.

I guess my main question is how you guys store them it said to vacuum seal them don't have a vacuum sealer can you bag them and freeze them? or does anyone have another suggestion?

Thanks,

John

I haven't really noticed a difference in water clarity as a matter of fact I would have to say the revese is true. When first put in nothing but after a while I get a have and as all the particle matter that is loose disolves then it clears back up.

Do not use anything but plaster that ingredients are calcium carbonate calcium sulfate hemihydrate and crystalline silica anything else is a anti mold agent or a quick dry agent and can cause problems.

Cut back on the amount of fish food you put in them if you did. I have never forze or vaccumed sealed mine.

How do you make the pucks?

Thanks for the info. I did put fish food in them I was thinking next time to add more water but less fish food sounds like a good plan.
