The store where I buy my fish is totally clueless. :headshake2:

They have snails in every tank, and when there gets to be too many, they scrape them off the walls and put them in the trash. I recently got about 25 MTS from there for free when I bought a plant, lol. I can talk most of the employees into picking a few snails for me since they just bin them anyway. And I can't convince them NOT to bin them. If they would take my dang phone number, I would come over and pick them up, but that would be too easy :shakehead:

The other day I was there, and one tank was PACKED with baby Briggs. I told one of the employees, "You know those are baby Mystery snails, right?"

"Oh, no, those are just pond snails."

"They have a trap door and are blue."

"Nope, just pond snails."

"Okay, well since there are so many in there, do you mind scraping them off the glass and throwing them in my bag? They do it for me all the time."

"Well, I am new here, so I had better not."

Okay, fine. Until I go in there today, and ALL of them are GONE. You know what that means. They went in the garbage

There were a couple in there, and the woman working today let me have them. Out of probably 50 babies, I saved THREE. I am so upset, why couldn't she have taken 5 minutes of her gum-popping, bouffant-haired time to give those babies to me? :angryfire:

Anyway, I am happy about the three that I got. Just wish I could have gotten the rest and given them away to you lovely folks on the forum.

Ooooh so sad, but good for you. I hope they grow up big and strong. I can't stand employees like that, next time try the manager.

I have six little baby blues from a previous rescue mission, and they have tripled in size in a very short period :)

I'll just keep trying, and get as many as I can. I might have some extra MTS soon, there were a LOT of them in several tanks. They were hungry, too, climbing the walls.

It is a shame. I am there every few days, and I will keep checking for more. Most of their adults die before they are sold, they think that you don't have to feed them.

Kristina, please complain this to the managers or owners (assuming they can be approached for issues).

Oh, trust me, I have, repeatedly. I think they cringe when they see me coming. But it never does any good. You all know how it is.

As to the owner, this is a major corporation, and they could give a crap less. I tried that route too.

Congratulations on the rescue !
I wish when stores sold something "live" they did a little research . Don't give up on reporting them all it takes is getting the message to the right person to make a big difference.

I have 2 blue Briggs and I would rescue them too they are extrordinary snails, beautiful color!!

I have an adult blue, an ivory, and a gold, and I tell you, I just love them. I have ramshorns, too, and those tiny little ramshorns that never get bigger than a few mm, and MTS, and ponds. I pick the ponds out when there gets to be too many, I just gave away probably three hundred of them, lol. Now I am having a hard time finding them in the tank, but they will be back in a couple of weeks.

Funny, I was pulling snails, and my husband was standing behind me and said, "Theres one right there!" I was like, "No, that is one of my baby briggs." "HOW can you TELL???"

LOL, silly man :D

I am in that store every two to three days, and I am not giving up, I promise :)
