I have had an Aponogeton ulvaceus growing in my tank for around 2 1/2 to 3 years. It has always produced large leaves and many flower spikes that grew incredably fast. The past few months the new leaves are only 1/4 to 1/3rd the size of the leaves before. I grow my plant in small pebbles with laterite. I've read were they like bottom fertilizer, so I do that every now and then, and liquid fertilizer every week.
I have read were some say that plant might need a rest period out of the tank in a cold location. I was wondering how everyone else grew this plant.
I think it is a very pretty plant, but would be a pain if I had to rip it out of the tank every year for a dormant period 2 or 3 months at a time.
Any other plants you can think of that do not need a dormacy period that might look similar?

When it goes dormant, the growth will slow down and it will lose its leaves. You can leave it in the tank and if it was fed regularly while it was growing, it will then come back again. It may never go dormant. Taking the plant out while it is still growing will not help it any.
