There are tons of posts on ebay! Otherwise you'll have to go through large online retailers which often charge 35+ for shipping. What kind are you looking for?

Hm, not sure, I kind of like the little golden ones that only get about 2 inches... I'll have to look up a name.

Unfortunately, I don't do Ebay, and haven't since I got screwed out of over $300 a few years ago and they would do NOTHING.

And that is why I posted here, lol, is that I didn't want to go through a large retailer :D

Please research these clams before you purchase. They are VERY difficult to keep alive longterm and require a good amount of work. Good luck with your search.

After 14 years in herpetoculture and with aquaria, I always research everything. I am well aware of what I am asking for.

I'm so glad you know what you need to do to keep these guys. If you get them, would you please make a thread about them and how you care for them. I would love to learn about them through your personal experience.

We have freshwater clams in a local river and my daughter wants to bring some home. I've explained that we can't really re-create the environment they need to live long term. She'd like to see some in an aquarium.

Very cool. Just making sure that you were prepared to culture what will be needed. I've read alot of threads where people had been misled by their LFS or sellers and wound up with a headache. No offense intended.

Not a problem. I stopped listening to LFS's when I was 7 years old and realized they had no clue, lol.

I just wanted you to understand that I am new to the forum, but I am not to the animal world.

My first post was 9 days ago :) I joined back in February, but had never posted. I am really enjoying this forum.

I had three clams years ago that I wild caught. I had them for about ten years. I fed them yeast and infusoria, and they thrived.

They are very neat to have in an aquarium, it is interesting to see them buried all the way in the sand with only a siphon sticking up :)

I got some, it's called an asian golden clam, due to it's requirements for express shipping I usually ship a bunch all together.

What is a "bunch," lol, and how many millions and millions of dollars would that entail, exactly, lmbo?

I just found a bunch of little pink/purple and white ones in my tank, they seem to max out at around 1/2 inch

I saw some freshwater clams at the semi-LFS by me this week. They had dozens of them. hard to tell if they were even still alive though. no telltale signs of life at any rate. good luck in your hunt and post some pics.

How do you just "FIND" one? Did you have some there in the past?

Could have come in on a plant, no different than a snail :D

I dont remember asian golden clams being expensive, they are an invasive species, and are in alot of water ways where they shouldn't be in, and are easy pickings if you know where to look.

i had a few for about a year (is that long term?), and i think they died cause i didn't have enough flow going over them. but i had one that got very big, i sitll have their shells in my tank.
