also I had a question, I was really obessed with puffers and lion fish and unfortunately I have a fresh water setup. So I was talking to the guy at LFS and he told me that there was a fish that looked similar to the lion fish.. but I cant seem to remember what the fish was ( I was looking into doing some research / compatibality issues ) before purchasing it. The fish I think was called a african angle? I am not sure it wasnt that big but it floaated on the top and looked almost like a lion fish. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Jesse

They are called red belly pacus or tankbusters. Hopefully you have plans for at least a two hundred gallon in your future:) They do look very healthy though.

Nice Pacus :)

The fish you are thinking of is an African Butterfly Fish. They are top dwellers but can be aggressive.

dun dun dun!! *drum roll* you win petluvr

You are right at that and I believe the 75 gallon should suffice till I get more funds for a bigger tank! or I have a friend with a 250 gallon that can take them off my hands in the future. They are very very active and took 3 people to catch them ( two to hold the net and cover it so they dont fall out and one to hold the bag). I love them so far and they are the reason my red tail shark is actually coming out of its cave and actually moving around the tank!

btw any ideas on the lion fish look-alike?

O wow fast response.. Thank you guys.. I kept googling lion fish fresh water alternative and kept coming up with stone fish ( the ugly looking thing)..

Thanks once more!

have a good night.

Nice Pacus. You should try a 3'x3'x8' tank with them.

Very nice! As long as you know the tank requirements you should be fine.

Thanks guys, I wanted to make a new thread for this quick question but figured why waste more thread space..

I am trying to feed these two and a 5 inch pleco some veggies. so far tried hanging zucchini and lettuce ( washed a lot of times before doing so).. and no one are bitting it..

I put an algae pellet in the tank yesterday and they both grabbed it in mid air, kept it in the mouth for a few and then dropped it..

any ideas on how to feed them veggies?

Give them time. Most fish aren't accustomed to getting fresh veggies while at the LFS so it may take a few attempts before they realize it's food.

It should be noted that these fish start out with the lionfish look that you want but as the years pass they morph into a round, black, drab fish with a dorsal fin that morphs into a spike! I would not recommend getting a fish that, if kept successfully, will turn into something that you don't want.
