I am setting up a pond here shortly...I hope... and have seen here that Prime seems to be the most recommended water conditioner around. While looking for it on the 'net, I found both Prime and Pond Prime, both by Seachem. The pond version seems to be a little more pricey, but it may be more highly concentrated. Has anyone used them both? Any recommendations as to which is better? They are both advertised as doing the exact same thing...
Just curious,
Jen

we carry it at the store, its just a highly concetrated version of the same product. It's kind of like pimafix and pimafix pond.
5ml of regular pimafix treats like 10 gallons where as 5 ml of pimafix pond treats like 50 gallons.
somebody told me that you can't overdose a tank with prime. Well you can with pond prime, quickly.

Thanks much! I think I will go with the less concentrated version so as not to inadvertantly nuke anyone! My pond isn't big enough to need massive quantities anyway...only 700 gallons.
Thanks again,
Jen

So, would you recommend following the dosage instructions, or using a little less than the package calls for? I will be using it initially to condition my first 'fill' of the season. I am just starting, so I will have only plants for at least a month, and then introduce fish later this summer. After that, I'd only add Prime with a largish water change, to remove chlorine/chloramine and condition the water.

I would just follow the instructions I believe it is 5ml per 50 gallons of water. If your going to let the pond sit for that long the chlorine/chloramine should dissapate on its own but better safe then sorry IMO

Does prime itself break down over time?
Just as an example. You do a 9 gallon water chance once a week but add enough prime for 10 gallons (rounding up your measurements).
Next week you do the same... and every week thereafter...
May take a while- but could you eventually end up overdosing as that extra amount builds up week after week? Or will the slight overages
break down before they build up?
.... never mind... I guess adding 10% too much prime can't get too high because you're always replacing a certain amount... doh...
