My cories in my 10g spawned right after they had their breakfast. I'm so excited! I've moved half of the eggs, and I'm leaving the other half. I'm not sure which way has a better chance of survival.

Nice pics!

It seems that a separate tank would be advantageous as the presence of snails in the second pic might mean that there's a caviar sitch about to ensue.

The snails have just moved on by. They didn't bother the eggs, and the fish in the tank don't seem to be messing with them either.

I do have half the eggs moved out just in case.

Edit: anyone know if decapped brine shrimp eggs are a good cory fry food?

I think that they should be, yes.

My sig has link to my blog- mine spawned too, the fry are about a week old now. :D Got lots of good advice from people here. The little wigglers are adoable, I think I have about 20 in my 5 gallon.

Wow, those videos are great!

I hear Microworms, Walterworms, or banana worms are all good for newly hatched cories. Also, other people who leave the eggs in have sometimes said they last a day or two before they're eaten. If you want the eggs in the tank to survive, don't leave them in there.

I forgot about that...yeah, mine mysteriously disappeared during the two spawning events I had had, so that's a good point.

I would guess the ones that you removed will have a better chance at hatching. Be careful and remove any eggs that turn white as these are not fertile. Also you may want to look into something for fungicide, I use peroxide at one capful for every gallon.

I might go ahead and move the rest.

How often do you add the peroxide, petluvr?

I do water changes daily 25% and add to the fresh water.

Ok, thanks! I'll give that a try.

Got the rest of 'em transferred now. There's roughly around 103 eggs.

I've got them in a large vase with an airline right now. Tomorrow I'll move my new goldie into the 75 to free up my 10g. Then clean up the tank, stick a sponge on the filter intake, and sit the vase down in it.

Thanks. :D I'll have new ones soon, they get big fast and they're easier to see.

Yeah, I left some in the tank (too awkward a place to get out) and they lasted about 3 days. They could have even hatched, I don't know, but I doubt they're still around.

Sounds good. I liked the clear cup in the tank like you're doing with the vase. It's easier to keep track of them, plus I can put food in there now and it doesn't get sucked up by the filter, and they all know where to go for food.

Good luck!

I don't think my babies are albino. They were the product of a albino x bronze spawning, and they all have dark patches. I'd love to see what the albinos look like!

Yup, your blog was what gave me the idea to keep them in the vase. :)

I'm definitely going to try and get pics of their development. I wonder if mine will all be albino... they could have some bronze in their recent family history too.

Yay! Congrats!

Yeah, even that small yours look more "clear" than mine- mine had dark spots you could see pretty much right away.

What're you planning on feeding them?

I'm thinking it'll have to be boiled egg yolk to start off. They look a bit small for the decapped brine shrimp eggs at the moment. :)

Aren't they tiny?? I'd only every had guppy fry before. I used powdered fry food for a while at first, but I had a heckuva time finding it.

Yeah, they sure are tiny. My only experience with fry was guppies too. Hard to get used to not even being able to see little googly eyes on the fry.

Decapped are fine after about 2 days. First day yolk sac 2nd day I use cyclops or mashed egg yolk mixed with tank water. I actually make a paste with this and freeze it for later use.

Are yours spinning? A lot of my freshly-hatched ones seemed to spin in circles a lot until they figured out the whole swimming thing lol.

Yup. Some of them have figured out how to move properly, but about half are spinning like tops.
