Can any one tell me if these are a good product for phosphate removal and also as a charcoal canister?

I bought a phosphate reactor similar to the TLFs brand, but have since purchased one from Bulk Reef Supply that is made from parts more typically thought of for RO/DI units. It utilizes a refillable cartridge (or two if you get the double) to make replacing the media less messy in terms of the reactor itself, as well as having easier to deal with fittings and seals. It's also designed to run off a Maxi-Jet, so the pump for it is easily attainable, easy to repair / replace, and relatively inexpensive.

Yes, you can certainly run both carbon and phosphate remover in it, although some places it says it's better to run them separately (an excuse to buy the double unit from Bulk Reef Supply if you need a good one). I had been running carbon and GFO in a single reactor, but when I bought the one from Bulk Reef Supply, I ordered the double so I can run one in each chamber.

I'm running out of room under the tank and the wife isn't about to let me start hanging stuff on the walls in the living room.

Yeah, it is a little bulky. I can see how any wife might not want it anywhere it can be seen.

Maybe just the small Phosphate reactor and a bag of charcoal for the time being.
