We just got 2 hawaiian dust feather and both did ok yesterday... but when we came home today 1 looks like it's floppy and the feather is smaller now too... seems to me everything is shrinking! What do we do!?
looks like it dropped it's crown and the outter skin (i dunno what it's called sorry) is missing
It could be stressed or maybe something is picking at it...can you put it between a rock?
got2envy: thanks but i only have 1 rock right now! seems to me that whatever it is... is nibbling on it again... i've been at work all day and had just taken a look at it.
i have a grunt sweetlip i'm wondering if it did it cuz it's been awefully close to it far awhile....
Your grunt / sweetlips is likely the cause... Many species of grunt will eat polychaete worms (which includes feather duster worms). If not removed, they'll probably end up as a pricey snack for your fish.
Hope you have a good size tank... that fish won't stay all that small for long.
FSN77: THANKS WELL.... WE ARE LATE... THE SWEETLIPS ATE IT TO WHERE THERE'S NOTHING THERE. ALSO, I NOTICE MY CHOCOLATE CHIP STARFISH HAD BEEN NIBBLED ON TOO... I THINK IT'S TIME TO REMOVE IT. THANKS
