Brigg eating a ramshorn, coulda been alive but coulda been dead. I am seeing a lot of empty ramshorns that is not usual seeing no sin snails in the tank.

Added 3 pea sized gold briggs at the same time, this one is HUGE way bigger than the other 2 and are around grape size now.

I find it hard to believe brigs would eat ramshorns alive. If it were canas, I can understand it happening but brigs, no. Brigs would have to be very underfed to eat another snail species right under their nose. I mix brigs with trumpets, nerites and ramshorns with no deaths so far as a result of this supposed cannibalism.

Couple of points I can find are the ramshorns are already dead and the brigs, as scavengers, will not resist the opportunity to pass up a free meal. The ramshorns may also be injured and dying that the brigs simply ate them up. The last point is competition as was pointed by Rachel. The ramshorns may be outcompeted for food. A scenario applied is the booming population of MTS while one species declines due to food competition. You mentioned in chat you added 20 and found about 10 ramshorns dead with empty shells. How long have they been in the brig tank?

Ummm, my brigs have a tendancy of eating bladder snails and rams... It think it's because they annoy them, lol!

I see my Briggs with other snails all over them all the time... I also see the Briggs crawl right over the top of other snails, including very tiny mts and bladders. I have NEVER seen one of my Briggs eat another snail, and I stare at my tank a lot (not sure I should admit that.)

I can't believe that a Brigg would eat another snail alive.

Hmm, ramshorns never make it in the tank that I have brigs in. Maybe this is why? Never really paused to think about it though, since I didn't want them there in the first place, heh. *shrugs*

What are you guys that are seeming to have your Briggs eat other snails feeding?

Because, the only time I see conflict is when they are mobbing my snello

Coexisting with NO problem.

Don't look at me, Kristina.lol I never said my brigs eat ramshorns. They coexist with my ramshorns like yours do.:silly:

Yea, have to say, I have never every had any issues with bridgesii and ramshorns together. Spixis and canas are another story entirely. I would think that your ramshorn was dead Darryl. It was a larger sized ram, but its hard to say not knowing. Maybe you have a rare and elusive assassin bridgesii ;)
