white stringy thing

i saw the white stringy thing hanging out of a nic's butt. is there a tank cure for internal parasites or could it have been something else?

do i have to medicate the food?

all the fish look thick but not bloated. i just dont know if its from being well fed or having several feet of worms growing in them. or both.
