At one time... my ten gallon had about 10 Trapdoor snails and many babys. They were tankmates with Ramshorns and MTS. I still have plenty of those but after about 5-6 months I am down to 2 full size and a few baby trapdoors. Any thought on whhat goin on. The other snails look healthy and seem to be going great.

Here are some pictures I took about a week after getting the snails [around Novemember, 08]

I love your pics, especially the 2nd one. Do you have any ornaments they could climb up into? Maybe they are in there!

You guys are awesome!!!

Had no idea that so many people liked snails. This is great. In answer to your questions... the temp is around 75-80 F. There are some plants and a large fake rock. I have crushed corral under the rocks to help keep the pH at about 7.5-8. It works. I feed them fish flakes, veggies, algae wafers, brine shrimp, and snail jello [now that I have found that :)]. And yes, all of the adult shells have been recovered...

Here is a pic I just took...

If thats a Betta in the tank, thats what happened to your snails. He will pick on only 1 at the time, in the Darkness. When that one dies he will start picking on another..

hmmm... so, maybe the ramshorns and MTS only live because they reproduce so much that the betta can't eat them all??? well. i just got a new smaller tank... that is where Kevin [the betta] is moving.
