So hopefully i dont come off as too much of an idiot but im having issues with my dwarf gourami.
Most of his fins and tail are missing and today he wedged himself into a peice of fake coral. I went to check it out and he was in upside down :( i managed to get him out with some gentle prodding but he was stuck pretty good.
I have no idea how he got there, iv had him for over a month and i dont know what i can do about it.

In the tank i have 2 medium sized angels, a small elephant nose, two neon tetras and a small black ghost knife.
I never see anything happening

some helpful advice would be great.

Welcome to AC. It sounds like he being picked on. You might want to post this in the general freshwater section. What size tank do you have. When I had a gourami in with my angels he was constantly picked on.

Welcome to AC! STart a thread here...

Tell us as much as you can about your tank...

Size (measure it and use the "conversion" link in the top banner)
How many and what kind of fish
Filtration you have
How long the tank has been up
Last water change and your maintenance routine
Current ammonia/nitrite/nitrate readings from a good liquid test kit

and anything else you think will help

First of all, welcome to AC.

A 2 foot long tank is around 15-20 gallons.

I don't think you are aware of this but the fish that you currently have (except for the dwarf gourami and neons) are extremely inappropriate for a 20 gallon.

An elephant nose can grow over a foot long.
A black ghost knife can grow 2 feet long.
2 angels alone shouldn't be in anything less than a 30 gallon.

To house your fish properly you will need something along the lines of a 150 gallon tank - unless you don't mind killing them all one at a time.

I think you should start by getting rid of black ghost knife and Elephant nose right away for sure. Bring them back to the store you got them from. If you want to keep the angels you'll have to upgrade your tank to 30 gallons minimum. And remember anytime you want to get a fish please research that fish on the internet before buying or you are going to have problems.

You gourami has probably been picked on, and is probably suffering from poor water quality (I don't see how you could keep the water quality good with those fish). If you don't do something about your set up you are going to end up with a tank full of dead fish IMO.

Good luck.
