Has anyone else had this issue? I went to bed, hit the updates button and this AM all my favorites were gone, toolbars messed up, etc. Well I just want my favorites back, any computer savvy ppl able to help me or am I screwed? :swear::swear::swear:

i don't use ie any more so idk??? did u try Google chrome or Firefox if installed they can probly get all favs back. but i'm not sure

Try going to C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Favorites and see if your old bookmarks are there.

You can also try running system recovery (the day before ie was updated) or you can try what dpenguinfish mentioned, when installing firefox you'll have the option to transfer all your ie bookmarks over, just to see if that works.

Another reason Im a fan of firefox or chrome.....

I will upgrade one of my computers tonight to IE8 and see what happens.

thats what i did a while ago, and have issues while posting , the typing part sometimes just makes a blip noise and my post is gone before i get to finish,. my favs are ok but posts and when in hybernation it wont wake up,.??

Well I am sure now the wife will be happy that I upgraded her IE7 to IE8 (like she would notice) But everything went fine no issues other than Google needing update. Maybe this will fix her issues with IE7 crashing every once in a while.

Well now my Virus software is all wonky too and it just says "error" I am sooooo ticked I have no idea if I am supposed to call Microsoft, Dell, or what but this wasn't like this before. I am about ready to rip out my hair!

Am unsure how installing IE8 can have any effect on your virus scanner, unless its the add-on for internet explorer which is at fault....which is easily sorted...Microsoft wont support you, unless you pay, so, Dell is your support option there if needed...
