Because .pps is not an acceptable file type, only jpeg.
Open the file in power point right click the picture and select "save picture as" then save it anywhere on your hdd as jpeg and then upload it here.

Yea.. no problem. I figured the same thing. Still, didn't want someone converting a .gif file to .jpeg in case someone got confused.
