Was told my plec was royal plec but this one does not have red eyes......

Welcome to Aquaria Central! Actually that is a Royal Pleco but their are two color varients one with broken stripes and one with straight stripes. You have one with the broken stripes but they both should have red eyes. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck.
