ummm yea.. how i got started was i once had this theory that the only kind of pet fish were gold fish or lil tetras and wasn't really that interested as a young'n
because them fish don't really seem to have much personalty *IMO*
and alot of crazy stuff went down and i had to move in with my Grand-pa's... around the age of 15 almost 16 and he had about 2 or 3 fish tanks.... with diffrent crazy fish that blew my mind at fist ... i want to say some kind of convict cichlid... idk but it was newworld cichlids in the huge tank.. and they tickeld my fanciy ( So 2 Say) LOL but yea .. and in one of his other tanks had clow loaches and tiger barbs ... but i kinda got hooked with the cichlids... so then i started to read about all the wonders of the aquatic world.... and that how i got hooked on fish tanks and yatta yatta yatta....
:dance2: ¿How did you get hooked by fish?:dance2:

I had the weirdest way of getting into fish. One day, my mom being a pushy woman dragged me into a shoe store with her. My dad went to PetSmart to get some cat food for our cats, I went with him and I checked out the fish side. What a mistake. Since then, I've been hooked.

Well, I was at the petstore getting hedgehog food and saw some brigs. I knew I had to get some so I got a tank and some snails. The snails ended up dying (all but two) due to store treatment. Hah, now I have a bunch of snails (nice healthy ones from on here), multiple tanks, and have gotten into fish as well LOL

It all started with a bowl of goldfish under the Christmas tree, Christmas morning when I was 7. But, then I kinda fell out of the hobby when I was in high school. In college I lived in the dorms in a room that had the same dimensions as a sheet of paper (8.5'x11') by myself and I wanted something living to come home to. Fish were the only thing allowed in the dorms so a betta it was. And from that point on I've been keeping fish.

I had always been fascinated by sealife for as long as I can remember--toddler age or so. After saving up for years and some convincing, I purchased a cheap marine setup at around 8 years old. I was successful with what I had and continued to to add onto it, eventually upgrading, downgrading, etc. until where I am today. Can't imagine being without a tank, really.

As a child we had an aquarium at home. We had fancy goldfish and angels. The aquarium at home was not enough to keep me from walking a couple miles to Capitol Aquarium to look at their fish every summer day that Mom would allow it. I got my own 10gallon tank in my room for my aquatic frog and some gambusia that I caught at William Land park... that tank was the begining of my MTS,

i worked at a pet store with am employee who hated goldfish. i ended up getting some out of spite (because i hated the guy) and ended up falling in love with the things and upgrading their tank
im now into inverts and bottomdwellers of any kind :D

hmmmmm i really like inverts ... never could really keep them for long i had fiddler crabs and they killed ecother in a 30gallon and there was only 3 of them .... and then when there was only one of them left he got out and i never seen him agen :(

i was sitting down at the mall near my house, watching my kiddlet play at the indoor playground. this was three days before my birthday and my stepmom was at the mall with us, but had 'gone off on an errand'. after some time, a plain white shopping bag was thrust into my line of vision, "happy birthday!". inside was a lil blue veiltail betta and a 1/2 gallon cube. hmmm... i simply can't tell my stepmom "um, gee, thanks, but i don't think i want a fish.....", i simply could not say that to my stepmommy! so i took the betta home. Fyshee he became, and i figured i'd better start learning something about fish, since my last experience was when i was ne'r knee high to a grasshopper and decided to help dad and give his 10 gallon of tetras a water change. knowing nothing of dechlorinater and temperature importancy, well.... yeah.....
that's my story, but there is no end when it comes to having finkids, lol.

my mom and dad have always had fish... But i started really when i was about 14, i got a 10 gallon tank for christmas, and my dad took me to the pet store and i got to get anything i wanted, so i bought guppies and balloon bellied mollies and platies. 'then i fell out of the hobby for a bit until i seen a garage sale with a 10 gal sitting there with everything, all the decor, the gravel, the filter, the air pump, the heater, EVERYTHING For 10 dollars... so i was like, ima buy that. so i bought it and bought 2 goldfish for it, ended up giving my goldies away because a 10 gal was much to small for them, so i bought a betta and some Briggs and ghost shrimp and guppies, got rid of the guppies and bought a bigger tank. used the 20 gal for a while, but ended up getting rid of it too... and now i got my curent tank, with just a betta, a algea eater, ADFrog, and about 15 brigs!!! My snails are my passion... i love love love them!!

My mom kept a pretty big tank when I was a kid. I loved watching the fish but never really got into the care/maintenance with her.
I had known I wanted a tank for quite a few years but it took that long with whining and bribery to get hubby to agree! :grinyes: Now I have 3 set up and 2 in storage......

As a small kid, I used to always go down to the end of our street and catch crawdads from the bayou. (I was forbidden to go there, but I did anyway...but that's another story) I was fascinated with them and kept them in a bucket. My Dad saw this and hauled out an empty 10 gal from our shed. I started keeping them in there and I was hooked. My parents have always loved fish and my Mom decided to set up another guppy tank (her favorites) and the rest is history. Oddly enough, I've never kept guppies or Crays on my own, but most everything else at one time or another.

It all started with a beta fish (yes... in a bowl) when I was 4
they died, and then I got some goldfish (same bowl)
I grew up in montana... and I used to go fishing a lot---- periodically I would bring things home (crayfish, minnows etc) and keep them in a 5g bucket in the garage... this further triggered my fascination
when i was 12-- I got a red belly pirahna in a 20g high
it wasnt til I was 19 that I discovered that I was doing things all wrong.. and started cycling tanks properly and doing research
I moved into my own place and had 7 tanks set up.. and it just took off from there
I developed an un-satiable thirst for plecos, and other bottom dwellers.... I have started breeding at this point.. mostly plecos (yes I started with the hardest first)... this is when i became the "pleco junkie" that I am today lol
Now I have 12 tanks in my posession.... and more to come

When I was growing up we had a couple of tanks. When my family moved (when I was in my teens) my parents stopped keeping fish. I then got into reptiles. I had an iguana, 2 ball pythons, 2 tokay gekos, and a very huge albino burmese python:grinyes:. I started getting back into the aquatic scene right after my apartment burned down. Now I am an addict and I seriously need help:hitting:

I got my first aquarium when I was 11 or 12 I believe. My parents just surprised me on my birthday with a 10 gallon. (I guess they knew I liked animals.)

Co-worker couldnt keep up with his tank anymore and just gave it to me. 55 gallon with stand, hob filter, bright blue gravel, heater that didnt work, one light out, 2 ornaments 1 standard pleco and 5 cichlids. I had never kept fish besides the occational neon or betta in a bowl.
I now have 5 tanks and just can't stop. I can't imagine life without fish ever again.

My dad had a fish store when I was little, then as a pre-teen, I lived near some awesome woods that had a stream, creek, lake and several ponds. The aquatic life intrigued me, so I started bringing it home and building ponds and filters for them. eventually my dad realized I had an addiction and bought me my very own tropical fish tank. It was a 29 gallon w/ fluval canister filter. My first fish were a pair of platties and a school of harlequin raspboras and bloodfin tetras. the first tank I got when I moved out on my own was a 280 SW with 2 used (lol) morey eels. I am still hopelessly addicted, and lovin every minute!!!
