I have about 6-8 juvenile ghost/glass shrimp that are tank bred for sale $0.50 each. These are good scavengers for the aquarium and are healthy - not like the ones you see in the shops. Shipping will be USPS Priority in a breather bag from 79968.

I'd like them, but you don't happen to have any others do you? I ask only because w/ the shipping it'll end up being expensive and I'd like to sorta 'spread' the cost by getting as many as possible.

Thanks!

I only have one breeding female, and they are in a community tank with fish so only a few young survive. I've only seen three from her last batch, only about 1/4 inch long, so the population grows fairly slowly.

These really are nice and healthy if anyone is thinking about getting some that will live a long time a be very active in the tank! Mine are doing great!

Thanks, Autumn. Good to hear that the others are doing well.

Here is a picture of one of the ghosts and momma (on the rock)

They are also great at controlling snail populations. I had pond snails in one of my tanks and have not seen a single one after a few weeks of having these guys in that tank! They also ate all of my Ramshorn snails...

Hi,

I may be interested but wanted to ask if you think they would be safe in a heavily planted tank that has a Betta ?
Thanks

Don't mind if I chime in????
I raise ghost shrimp as well and mine are in a heavily planted tank with guppies. I have had my shrimp in with a betta and both are safe and do not have much interaction (unless you are talking about juvenile shrimp or when they are in the larval stages-then they are free game for all fish).

However I do have mine in a community tank with a male Betta, and, while I have watched him try to catch a very small baby (unsuccessfully), he doesn't bother the larger ones.

That's great to hear Autumn! :grinyes: I think my snails are reproducing too fast for the ghost to keep up with, but my assassin snails are taking care of them. :evil_lol:

Howdy, just checking back. I got to wondering about trying to work something out since the pop. grows so slowly. I could pay you now and wait for the pop to grow out. My main concern is getting a large enough starting group and keep costs down (with shipping it'll really add to the cost). If you don't want to I understand. I am having a bear of a time getting decent Ghosts.... by decent I mean an animal that won't die after 48 to 96 hours.

If you can't help, might you refer me to someone who can? Thanks!

How many are you looking for? My colony is not going to get much bigger as I simply don't have the room. Right now they are in a 20G community tank with about 26 fish so I'm pretty close to being overstocked.

I'd like to get at least 12 and more like 20 or more. I know that the high side is more than you were looking to sell, but perhaps the lower amount would be workable.... maybe fifteen?

OK, I was afraid you'd say you wanted 100 or so. :eek3:
I did a quick head count (wasn't easy :hypnotized:), and I counted 10. I don't know if that was all of them or not. When they get into the vegetation you can't see them. My female dropped another batch on 11 May, so if there are any surviving young from that brood I should start seeing them soon. I can PM you when I start seeing them, and let you know how many I have. Let me know if you're still interested.

LOL! Yea, I don't know which is harder, counting shrimp or fish, but I do know that both sucks; especially when the critter that you're counting is, effectively, colorless.... ugh. But thanks for going to all the trouble.

If you'd be able to do more than 10 then I'd definitely be interested, but if not it isn't a problem, I understand the position that you're in. In fact, at this point, I'll probably be intersted no matter what given that I've not been able to find anyone else breeding a decent Ghost Shrimp. I had ordered some via Yellow Shrimp on Aquabid along with a bunch of other stuff only to have her take my money, send me a fraction of the order, and then disappear. Really sucks, but owell....

Thanks!
Aaron

Wow that is a bummer!:mad2: I'll try to catch them tomorrow and do a proper head count. Meanwhile I'll list them as pending.

Bump for new count.
I have 12-14 with some of the females starting to develop saddles.
