noticed this spot on my oscars fin.... what is it?
Are you talking about the pectoral fin on the first fin? Does it feel hard and globular? It could be an onset of lymphocystis, a viral disease which happens mostly in fins but this can be removed by trimming the affected area. The appearance of the dorsal fin end and the caudal fin dictates finrot. What are your water parameters right now?
Have to agree with Lupin here this guy/gal just looks a little frazzled overall. Water params and what is your water change regimen?
Any new additions to the tank recently?

Veil Tale Oscars tend to get fin rot easily. So that might be the case as Lupin stated. Is it in a tank with any other fish? It's fins are an easy target for other Oscars.

water params are fine ph 7.0, amm. 0, nit. 0, nitrate ~20
76 degrees for temp
i netted him and felt.. not really any feel to it, he's angry and scared of me now. lol
another spot on his other fin on the other side just showed up today, and the other one seems to be fading, i wonder if he's just getting nipped at by the angelfish, he is a jerk...
and i am aware of the dorsal and caudal fin.. he was in a tiny tank at the lfs with a couple other oscars, im suspecting tail nipping. it seems to be growing back now, other than the spots on his pectoral fins, he seems to be a happy and healthy, "never eaten a day in my life" oscar :)
