I am fairly sure that I am setting up a 75g discus tank.. I also want my briggs to be able to be in there but my question is will the soft water be detrimental to their shells? Can I supplement with calcium to compensate? Will snail jello with calcium be enough for them? how about for the babies? help please! =)

It's not the soft water that would be detrimental but the acidity (see pH) wherein the alkalinity influences it although pH will not matter to fish but the snails. Discus need high temperature so brigs are out for this very reason.

Bridgesii cannot tolerate the high temps that discus require and they also need high carbonate hardness to prevent erosion of their shells. They are not a good mix in a discus tank.
