View Full Version : My Nics had babies!!!! I need info!
As said. I wasn't sure if they were breeding or not, but last night I saw the fry.
They appear to be good parents so far. How long before fry is free swimming and is it important to seperate them from the parents as soon as they are?
Any other info on the parenting would be very, very helpful!!!

This may sound stupid but what breed of fish are they?
Known as the Nicaragua Cichlid or the Nicargenseus
There isn't much info on AC species about the parenting. I know someone here breeds them also (at least, I'm pretty sure there is).

they are cichlids so they will do it for you.
if they got them this far then they know what they are doing.
if you havent already invest in some baby brine shrimp. that is always recommended for babies.
im not sure if yours will take it but try crushing up some flake really small and putting that in. (when they are free swimming).
the parents should chew up and spit out hunks that are too big.

My Nics have been acting like they want to breed for months, but no luck so far. I have two females and one male. The females are constantly fighting over the male (lucky guy), and they seem to distract him enough to keep him from choosing either. :shake:
The babies are sooooo cute!!!
