Very nice as usual :p How large is your P. electra?Is it a female or male and how can you tell? I have a p.electra that is about 3 1/2"(without tail) andi'm wonderign how to sex it.

Thanks Valerie. Mine is a male. the females will not get any color at all besides the black stripe behind the head and on the eye. The only way to tell really is if the anal and dorsal fins are pointed...then its a male. Mine is about 5"

At what size did your male venustus start getting his blue color? I have 8 ranging from 5.5" down to about 3" and non of them have any blue yet. Wondering if I got all females.

yeah, its definitely a male.

mine started showing blue in the face at about 5". Id say just wait a few more months and Im sure at least one has to be a male.

When the fins are down, the fish looks scared, or just not feeling good... (?) ..hope that one is ok..
