I bought a feather duster yesterday. When I was looking at it this morning, it looked as if it had smoke coming out of the center of it. What is it doing?

It is thought that some sabelids also cast off their tentacles in preparation for reproduction. This event may manifest itself as a milky cloud flowing from the opening of the worm's tube. Such a cloud of eggs or sperm will provide food for other filter-feeding invertebrates in the tank adn could result in the development of additional worm specimens.
