Ok..before anyone says anything about T12s, I have a purpose for these. I'm replacing a light that went out over a 10g tank. I have a 20w T12 light on it. The bulb went out and I have to replace it. The reason I'm sticking with this light is that it is over the tank where my oto's have been constantly breeding. I don't want to bother this tank as much as possible.

I picked up two bulbs today. They are both T12 20w. One is plant & aquarium the other is daylight.

I know the daylight bulb is the best for the plants and thinking of starting out with that as it is 65k. The p & a bulb while it didn't say the k factor on it, I looked on the net and it appears that it is about 31k. Don't know for sure.

So the big question....what type of impact would it possibly be on the oto's going with a higher k factor bulb?

Or should I just stick with the p & a bulb for security?

Thx

Ok...more info. The bulb that I pulled out of the fixture is a GE Aqua Rays F20T12-AR-FS. Online it says that this particular bulb is 93k. I think I can safely use the 65k.

Please share your thoughts on this if you'd like.

Go with the daylight...return the P&A.

the P&A's I have are really reddish and not very bright. great for blooming amaryllis (ONLY thing I use them for) but daylights work better for growing plants in general.
