Everyone else has briggs that lay eggs and mine never have. I have 8 of them, 5 of which are sexually mature and I know one is for sure female.
I lower my water level just for them, but the magic never happens .

How do you know they are sexually mature? How do you know one is female? How big are they? What is your water temp and parameters? What else is in the tank with them? LOL All important info. :)

Are your snails in with fish? Some fish may harass them, and if they are too busy protecting themselves from nips, they may not give you eggs. Do you have both male and female snails?

Well, I was going by the nickel size= sexual maturity guideline. Anyhow, 3 are larger than a walnut, 3 are between nickel and quarter size and 2 are penny size.
I know one is female because it has gone crazy eating some zuchinni and I got a good look at it and compared pics online. Also it never gets on the top of any others.
Temp is at 77, I do water changes every 2 days (last check it was 0,0, 10), and feed sanil jello every night along with zuchinni 2 times a week. They are growing very well.

Oh, you can see in my sig what I have with them in the 55.

The fish don't seem to bother them much, I guess I don't know for sure if I have males, but hsouldn't the females lay eggs anyhow?

Look at your snails antennae, are they long or short? Check their eyes, some fish pluck those off too. Do they scoot around the tank all open? or do they keep their antennae curled in? They may be picking on them and you not seeing it.

Some do but I had a female for a year without males and she never laid, within 2 weeks of having males in with her she started laying.

This thread is really interesting because I am having similar problems. What is the ideal water temperature for mating. I have seen them mate-- I just have no eggs.

i've never had a female lay eggs without doing erm, business, lol, with a male first.

it is possible that although your snails are the right size according to your research to begin breeding, they may just not be ready. i'd say give them time, and if no eggs in say, the next few months, then you may possibly have all of one gender of snails. i've had briggs for about a year now and i still can't tell the difference between the gals and the guys, i just lucked out with getting one of each the first time around, lol.

Or, maybe they just don't like you.

Thanks...
Anyhow, they do move around all day mostly out, their antenaes look ok to me, but who knows what happens in the middle of the night.
Big blue once had a husband that mated with her many times a day, he passes away awhile ago, but she never laid eggs then either. I just got 2 more that are as big as her so I'm not sure what sex they are yet, but I will try to check today.

I just happened to catch my snails doing the.. erm.. well yknow anyway I got some pretty sweet pictures that may help folks know if they have boys or girls.. this is my first sexing of snails here so I could be wrong but uhmm.. well you'll see in the pics haha

actually.. I don't wanna hijack, I'll start another thread showing them off.

I actually have my briggs (7 of them) in a 5gal "holding" tank until the 75g is ready for them and I just found my second clutch today.. the last was laid about a week ago.. I do weekly 50% water changes and the temp is right around 78 I give them kens veggie sticks with calcium and snail jello with calcium added.. lights on at 7am and off at 10pm and they seem.. quite happy, I hope this helps!

I guess I'm not concerned about their wellbeing in general, I know they are very active and growing wel with nice shells. I just was hoping for shell kids... maybe someday.
