since catfish are scaleless i think they need a different medicine, not sure if plecos are scaleless? OH raise the temp to about 83-84 degrees

I don't know what the best ich medicine is, however Nox-Ich has always worked great for me. I only use half of recommended dosage because I have corys and plants.
WARNING: Nox-ich has blue dye that stains. It'd be a disaseter if it gets on the carpet or clothing. Even a drop of nox-ich on your hands takes about a week to get rid of it.
Oh yeah, it'll turn the clear silicone sealant inside the tank slightly blue as well.

some catfish aren't scaleless, including plecos. Maybe you were thinking of loaches? they are more like armor plates on plecos
what kind of catfish is it? because if it is scaleless then catlid is riht that it may need a medicine that is a little less potent.

To start, I would slowly raise the temp to the mid 80's.

i have several scaleless fish and i use jungle ick cure II it takes a while but it will work on ALL your fish without killing your cats - they are sensitive to ick meds

NOT until you find something to treat it.

it could prove disasterous by raising the temp immediately but if you do this slowly in conjunction with a ick cure it should work realy good. Also remmember to take out carbon from your tank as this will absorb most of the cure. :thud:
