in my predator tank, i had a leaf scorpionfish and a frogfish, who were always deep in my LR. one day i saw less and less of the frogfish, and then the same with scorp a week or so later. i ripped apart my tank, but found nothing. a few days ago i noticed my arrow crab (not in tank at times of disapeerence) fighting with an inch and a half long crab that i had never seen before. i got it out of my tank, and now im wondering if it could have killed my fish...?

I think invertebrates of that such will only attack a fish if it's down or on its way out. You found the dead bodies when you took the tank apart or they were just totally gone?

Wow. How's that for honesty? Don't spring it all at once :D.
It is difficult to say what happened at this point, in any case. While it is somewhat doubtful a small crab caused the problem, I can't discount the possibility entirely. I'd look to other potential causes. Look and then look again.

sigh, i suppose ill have to, if im gunna ever get other fish. the only fish left was a dwarf lionfish and he mostly was off the rock so i thought thats where the problem was

I dont trust anything with claws..
In my FW experience ( I dont have any SW tanks) If it has claws, it will eat anything it can catch...

no, the crab. why would i set up a tank for an animal just so i could kill it by introducing a predator, unless i was completly sure that the predator would get revenge PWNED by furious flying purple stomatopod clubs...
btw, i bought a shrimp tank hitchhiker scorpionfish, not sure of the species, heres a pic when the lion first checked him out

I only read the last comment Mantis Shrimp tank... now as for the crab... Do you have pics of him.. i recall reading near the beginning you were trying to find your predator in the tank...
Crabs are opportunists... I had a swimmer crab nail two Wrasse in there sleep. They were perfectly health wrasse. He caught them and ate them. Wasn't till I saw him late at night getting the second one did i figure out this.

idk where the crab is, for all i know he could be a bunch of shell fragments surrounding my mantis's favorite burrow. but he resembled a stonecrab in shape
