anyone know how to do it? there are four fans on each side of the fixture, but i dont even think they're working. everythings plugged in, the power cord i mean. is there something inside of t he light that needs to be plugged in? the plastic covering of the light feels awfully hot, and im nervous about it.

They probably broke and need to be replaced. Those little fans like to break. I'd unplug it and open up the case to be sure. Once you have it open you can plug it back in to test the fans. If they are broke you'll want to replace them quickly because it's a bigger pain to replace the ballast, which will eventually break if it stays too hot.

The fans are easy to replace. They have a little plug so you don't have to do any soldering. Sometimes the manufacturer puts glue on the plug to keep it from coming loose but you can just scrape that off with your fingernail.

hmm, do you have to plug them in with the first time setting up the light? cause if so i dont even think i plugged them in from the beginning, i though theyd already be on.

is that right?

If its a bran new light... and they wont work... then dont bother replacing any parts. just return it and get a non-defective one

i got this light when i first set up my 55 in december. everything works fine. im just not sure if the lights were supposed to turn on automatically when you turn the lights on, or you have to plug them in manually.

No, you shouldn't have to turn on the fans separately. They should come on automatically with the lights. The plastic will get warm whether the fans are on or not. You can't really tell whether the fans are working by the temperature of the plastic.

hmm so you're saying just to make sure they're going to work; take the whole thing off, and unplug and replug?

Yes, but can't you just look inside the grate to see if they're moving? Or stick a little piece of paper in there to see if it gets hit by the blades? If they're definitely off I'd open it up and take a look. If all of the fans are off there might be something wrong with the hood itself.

yep, just stuck a piece of paper through each grate [4] and nothing. guess i should take a look. should i turn off the light and let it cool off before taking it off though?
